Output before input – start your day by setting your intentions, making your own plans, so you can focus on what matters.
The world will always pull you in a million different directions, and especially as parents, even the most solid plans can get scrapped at the last minute. However, if we at least begin our days with an intention and a plan in mind that aligns with what matters, we’re better able to decide when to say ‘yes’ and when to say ‘no’ when someone else asks for our time.
One of my favorite quotes by author Iain Thomas, he says, “And every day, the world will drag you by the hand, yelling, “This is important! And this is important! And this is important! You need to worry about this! And this! And this!” And each day, it’s up to you to yank your hand back, put it on your heart and say, “No. This is what’s important.”
