Do you pick a word for the year? I love having a word that helps me focus on what I want to nurture over the coming year. Having a word gives me a lens through which to ask questions, make choices and prioritize.
Mine for 2018 is ALIGNMENT.
I want more ease this year. I feel like I’ve been steadfast (my word from 2017!) and built a foundation – gaining clarity about my deepest held values. This year I’ll look for opportunities to align my life with that sense of purpose and direction.
And perhaps more importantly, I will look for ways I can simply allow the alignment to happen, believing that not everything has to be a struggle. As I gain more trust in myself, I begin to trust that I have more power than I realize, and I don’t always have to push or force things.
As a support phrase for this word I found this quote from Johann Wolfgang von Goethe:
“Things which matter most must never be at the mercy of things which matter least.”
I made this image to put on my phone as a background – you’re welcome to download it for yourself if you like. This is also an example of the kinds of images I send links to with Bounceback Texts. I’m enjoying having the visual reminders of ‘things which matter most’ 😉
If you’d like help choosing a guiding word for the year, I highly recommend Susannah Conway’s ‘Find Your Word’. When you sign up for it she sends you a series of simple and effective prompts that help you narrow down what word will support you best for this coming year.
